The Charles Drew Health Center, Inc. (CDHC)

While CDHC provides medical services to anyone seeking health care, our patients are expected to pay for all services rendered. We offer our services on a sliding fee scale, where the amount paid is determined by family size and income.

The gradual decline in the availability of medical services for the North Omaha community in the 1970s provided the stimulus for the creation of the Charles Drew Health Center, Inc. And thus, the CDHC was incorporated. In the beginning, the center provided basic medical services at one location.

During the 1980s and early 1990s, CDHC expanded its services to include additional medical resources and community outreach programs. Social services were added to complement the medical program, and the Satellite Homeless Health Center opened in 1987. As the center grew, the staff and services have continued to embrace change to meet the needs of patients. At the same time, CDHC has encouraged its patients to become partners in the health care delivery system by focusing on prevention and health care maintenance.

Today, CDHC has a total health care package with four different locations serving the needs of the community. There are a team of full-time physicians, physician assistants and a medical support staff (pharmacist, dietician, family nurse practitioner, patient advocates, etc.).
